Unique November Vacations

Unique November Vacations don't need to be limited to Thanksgiving in Plymouth and Corn mazes.  Most people don't have a lot of time in November which makes this a great opportunity for 3-day weekends and road trips!

So, where should you go? One of the most unique excuses to get away for a few days is to head out to the country for the Leonids Meteor Shower.  The peak is usually around Nov. 17th, and if you want to have a chance to see more shooting stars than you can count, get out in the country and away from the city lights.

The 5th of November is Guy Fawkes' Night, and if you really want a trip to top all November vacations, you should head to Lewes, in Sussex, England.  The town center is closed and there are no less than 6 bonfires that include the burning of an effigy of Guy Fawkes and other notorious characters.

If you have an interest in history and are already in the UK for Guy Fawkes' Night, you could commemorate the discovery of King Tut's tomb by visiting the Egypt collection at the Royal Museum.  Even better, why not go to Egypt?

Egypt is fantastic for place to visit in November: the hot weather has come to an end, you can enjoy being outdoors and really see the sites.  While there, be sure to ride the Cairo subway--it's the only subway in Africa, and a great way to get to the Pyramids of Giza.  Consider sailing down the nile, or Scuba diving in the Red Sea.

Consider a visit to Ottawa, Canada for Remembrance day, which is also known as Poppy Day and commemorates the soldiers that lost their lives in war, especially those that died at the Battle of Flander's in Belgium which led to the end of World War I.  The formal events culminate with the placing of poppies that have been worn for the preceding to weeks on the tomb of the unknown soldier that was erected in 2000.
